This is the 6th of 7 devotions from
1 Corinthians 13:7
(Adapted from Luke 22:31; John 12:27-28; 1 Corinthians 13:7)
At what point are you overwhelmed? What is your breaking point when your faith fails you? Jesus said to Peter,
Satan has desired you that he might sift you as wheat,
But I have prayed for you that your faith fail you not.
Do you think Jesus was ever troubled and distressed? He was. How did He handle it? He spoke to His soul and made it align with truth.
As the appointed time was drawing near for Him to be crucified, Jesus said, My soul is troubled and distressed. But what shall I say? Should I say, Father, save Me from this hour of trial and agony? But it was for this very purpose that I have come to this hour that I might undergo it. Rather, I will say, 'Father, glorify, honor and extol Your own name!'
Jesus spoke to His soul and told Himself that the very purpose of His life on earth was to come to this hour of trial. As soon as He verified this truth and His soul lined up with His spirit, His Father spoke to Him, 'I have already glorified it, and I will glorify it again!'
Jesus was not about to let His soul dictate what His flesh would do. He spoke truth to His soul and caused His soul to align with it. When He did this, His Father spoke to Him! Our Father will do the same for us! He longs for us to speak to our souls and align ourselves with truth so that we may hear His voice.
Jesus, You showed me how to do it! So I follow Your lead. I will not talk about the circumstances and situations. I will speak the word of God to every circumstance and situation that comes. In this way I will bare up under everything and anything that comes.

RATHER I WILL SAY
(Adapted from John 12:27-28; 1 Corinthians 13:7)
Verse 1:
Now my soul is troubled and distressed
What shall I say, Father save me from this hour?
But it was for this very purpose
That I have come to this hour that I may undergo it
Chorus 1:
Rather I will say,
Father glorify, honor and extol Lord Your name
Then there came a voice out of heaven,
I have already glorified
and I will glorify it again and again and again and again
I will glorify it again
Verse 2:
As we travel through trouble and distress
We're not gonna stay, we're just passing through
We give the Father praise with every word we say
We have fresh perspective, We won't be dismayed
Chorus 2:
Rather we will say
Father glorify, honor and extol Lord Your name
I can hear a voice out of heaven,
I have already glorified
And I will glorify it again and again and again and again
I will glorify it again
