DISPELLING ANXIETY THROUGH OBEDIENCE / Help!

This is the 5th of 7 devotions with the theme
From 1 Corinthians 13:5
"Love Is Not Fretful, Anxious or Worrisome"

DISPELLING ANXIETY THROUGH OBEDIENCE
by
Rebecca Cooley

(Adapted from 1 Corinthians 13:5; 1 Timothy 1:17-19; James 1:22)

I give you instruction
in keeping with the prophecies once made about you,
so that by following them you may fight the good fight,
holding on to faith and a good conscience.

If you have ever sought out counsel, whether by calling a friend, meeting with a pastor or through other venues, and you have received good advice and direction, then you are obligated to walk in that counsel. It is the Holy Spirit inspiring, encouraging and instructing you through another person. So many times people seek advice and counsel, leave and not make any changes and return wanting to talk about the problem again. But there is nothing to talk about! If we don't follow the godly instruction that was given, what more can be said?

Counsel is a good thing. Friends can help friends. Pastors can assist parishioners and give good advice. Even strangers and acquaintances can offer assistance as the Holy Spirit leads them. And we should take serious the obligations we receive from that counsel.

But many times we just need to seek the Lord ourselves by becoming still and peaceful and making our requests known to God. As we sit in His presence, He can soothe, still, and calm us and give us the counsel we need. But if we must seek His counsel through another person or entity, it is important to heed what they say and act on it by being a doer of the Word. We shouldn't have to have numerous counseling sessions, more conversation and use up precious time. We should listen and heed the advice given and then go and be a doer of that word! Being a hearer only and not a doer produces fret, worry and anxiety that is self induced. So do not be a hearer only but also a doer.

Father, forgive me for wanting to discuss and converse over things that I should take to you and get your thoughts and counsel on. Forgive me for not being a doer of the Word when I hear godly instruction. I don't want to talk anymore. I want to emulate what the Holy Spirit is instructing me. For when I am willing and obedient, I will eat the fruit of the land and my willingness and obedience will dispel fret, worry and anxiety.

My Child,
your actions of obedience
are the true proof
that you are in agreement with Me
and will result in a peace
like you have never known.

HELP!
(Adapted from Psalm 46:1; 121:1; Matthew 7:7 NLT;
Galatians 6:9 KJV; 1 Corinthians 13:5; Mark 4:39)
Verse 1:
When I’m down and I am in despair,
There’s a place to go to call on Him in prayer
Distress signals I send to Him
He just speaks “peace be still”
His grace rescues me again
Chorus:
Help! I call for help
I call for help unto my Lord
A very present help in time of need
I look unto the hills whence cometh my help
My help cometh from the Lord
Verse 2:
So many are depending on Psychology,
But I keep looking to the hills
So many are depending on Physiology,
But I keep looking to the hills
Alcoholics are depending on Alcoholics Anonymous
I’d like to tell them that they can look to the hills
Whence cometh their help
Their help can come from the Lord

KEEP ON KEEPING ON / Let Us Not Lose Heart

This is the 4th of 7 devotions with the theme
From 1 Corinthians 13:5
"Love Is Not Fretful, Anxious or Worrisome"

KEEP ON KEEPING ON
by
Rebecca Cooley

(Adapted from Matthew 7:7 NLT; Galatians 6:9; 1 Corinthians 13:5)

"Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you."

The word fret means to worry or to wear away by constant wear or rubbing. So to fret is to constently think, speak and believe all the reasons why you can’t do something wearing away your faith. Fretting is in total opposition to Faith. To have faith in God is to constantly think, speak and believe all the reasons why you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. It is to pray and keep praying without fainting.

And let us not be weary in well doing:
for in due season we shall reap,
if we faint not.

Every promise God gives us, in His word and through a personal prophetic word, will be tested. We will be recipients of those promises if we are not moved by our 5 senses that attempt to ware away our faith and cause us to give up on believing God for the fulfillment of his promises.

Thank you for the promise that the one who asks and keeps on asking and the one who will not faint will receive. I hold tightly to the promise that you will answer me in due time.

LET US NOT LOSE HEART
Devotion: Pray And Keep On Praying
(Adapted from Matthew 7:7 NLT; Galatians 6:9 KJV; 1 Corinthians 13:5)
Chorus:
Let us not lose heart
And grow weary and faint from doing what is right
For in due time and at the appointed season,
We will reap if we do not faint
Verse:
So then as we have occation and opportunity
Let us do good to all people, be a blessing
Especially to those of the household of faith,
Your fellow believers

THE FRET ZONE! / Don’t Doubt

This is the 3rd of 7 devotions with the theme
From 1 Corinthians 13:5
"Love Is Not Fretful, Anxious or Worrisome"

THE FRET ZONE!
by
Rebecca Cooley

(Adapted from Matthew 7:7; Galatians 6:9; 1 Corinthians 13:5)

"Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for.
Keep on seeking, and you will find.
Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you."

This scripture exemplifies faith. Faith is the opposite of fret. Fret means to worry and be anxious over something and it actually wears away faith. To fret is to constantly think, speak and believe all the reasons why you cannot do something and eventually will extinguish your faith. On the other hand, to have faith in God's promises is to constantly think, speak and believe all the reasons why you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. To exercise faith is to pray and keep praying without fainting.
"And let us not be weary in well doing:
for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not."

Every promise God gives us in His Word or through a personal prophetic word, will be tested. We will be recipients of those promises if we are not moved by our five senses that attempt to move us into the fret zone, wear away our faith and cause us to give up on believing God for the fulfillment of His promises.

Father, thank you for Your Word that promises us that the one who asks and keeps on asking and does not faint, will receive. I hold tightly to this promise that You will answer me in Your perfect will and in your perfect timing.

DON’T DOUBT
(Adapted from Matthew 7:7; Galatians 6:9 KJV; 1 Corinthians 13:5)
Verse 1:
Seems there’s never been a trial like the one your in
The valleys so low you question
Lord how can I win
Just remember that higher plain
Where you were when the promise came
What’s more important than where you are is where you’ve been
Chorus:
Don’t you doubt in the darkness what God showed you in the light
Don’t give up your armor in the middle of the fight
And don’t relinquish the trial, your God given right
Don’t doubt in the darkness what God showed you in the light
Verse 2:
That old accuser of the brethren sometimes comes around,
Trying to make your faith have a breakdown
But on that mountain what God showed you
In the valley is still true
God is as good as His word,
what He said, he’s going to do

NO WORRIES GOD IS IN CHARGE / This Is Your Service Lord

This is the 2nd of 7 devotions with the theme
From 1 Corinthians 13:5
"Love Is Not Fretful, Anxious or Worrisome"

NO WORRIES GOD IS IN CHARGE
by
Kent Cooley
(Adapted from John 5:19; Mark 4:35-41; 1 Corinthians 13:5)

After traveling with an evangelist for seven years, I held one of my first revivals at a church in a little town called Bono, SC. I set my keyboard up right next to the pulpit. Every night the pastor introduced me with these words, “This is Your Service Lord. We are Your servants.” One night after she introduced me with these words, I went to the keyboard and replied, “Let’s just sing that.” And I began to sing a chorus and bridge perfectly as if I had been working on it all day. We sang it for a good while and the Spirit moved. “This Is Your Service Lord” became the sub-title to our first “Songs of the Sanctuary” praise and worship CD. These words have been my anthem ever since and this is why. I have come to realize that God is God and I am not. He is in charge and I am not. All I have to do is wait on my instructions from my Commander in Chief and do what he tells me to do. Jesus exampled this principle perfectly. He said,

I assure you, most solemnly I tell you,
the Son is able to do nothing of His own accord;
but He is able to do only what He sees the Father doing,
for whatever the Father does is what the Son does in the same way.”

Jesus had no worries, His Father was in charge. Even when the disciples were on a ship, frantic with panic, concerned that they would perish on the sea from the storm, Jesus was asleep. Jesus demonstrated that he had no worries. He was at peace in the storm. He responded to the panic of the disciples by asking, “Where is your faith?” This response fully proves that He expects us to have the same kind of peace in the time of storm. He fully expects us to have the same authority over the storm that He had. He fully expects us to rest assured in the Fathers love and care for us. He fully expects us to have the same inner knowing that the Father is in control of the situation. No worries; God is in Charge!

CLOSE THE DOOR 2 ANXIETY / Don’t Worry

This is the 1st of 7 devotions with the theme
From 1 Corinthians 13:5
"Love Is Not Fretful, Anxious or Worrisome"

CLOSE THE DOOR 2 ANXIETY
by
Rebecca Cooley

(Adapted from 1 Cor. 13:5; Phil 4:6; 1 Peter 3:4)

I will not fret or have any anxiety about anything. Worry is believing that bad things are going to happen. I refuse to open the door of anxiety for the enemy to walk through.

Lord, I close all the doors that give access to the enemy this morning. I close the doors of anxiety and worry. I close them by repenting of entertaining ideas and thoughts that the enemy offers. I keep the doors closed by confessing Your words over my life today. Holy Spirit, remind me to be thankful about everything. When circumstances arise that pull me again to the door of anxiety and worry, remind me to speak words of thanksgiving and words that are positive and full of life.

“Child, keep talking to Me. Bring your requests and petitions and concerns to Me all through your day. Add an expression of gratitude and contentment of where I have you right now. I will give you peace that will slam the door on fear. My peace transcends and surpasses all understanding and My peace will guard your heart and mind constantly. I search the hidden person of your heart. I look for your desire to please Me. When I see that heartfelt desire, I give you peace and peace gives you a gentle and charming spirit. And this is precious in my sight.”
