DOING PHILIPPIANS 4:6 And 7
by
Kent Cooley

(Adapted from 1 Corinthians 13:5; Philippians 4:6)

Life was happening to me one day and I found myself under much duress. “What am I going to do?” I asked myself. Instantly, I remembered Philippians 4, verse 6 and 7. As I was alone in our living room, I answered myself out loud,
“I am going to do Philippians 4 and verse 6 and 7 right now!” I opened up my Bible to the scripture and read it out loud, confessed it with my mouth and believed it in my heart.
I did what my instruction manual told me to do.
Philippians 4:6 and 7 not only instructs us but commands us,

Do not be anxious about anything.”

It just told us what not to do, now it is telling us what to do.

“But in everything by prayer and petition
make your definite requests known unto God with thanksgiving.

What is the result of this process?

“and the peace that passes all understanding
will keep your heart and your minds through Christ Jesus.

So I confessed, “Father, I am not anxious about anything.” I make my request known to You. I began to thank my Father for every blessing that came to my mind. The thanksgiving caused me to become thankful and I could literally begin to feel the anxiety lift off of me. I cast my cares on the One who cares for me. I vividly remember the peace of God coming over me just like the Word said it would. The care of my anxiety was gone and I was confident that God would take care of the circumstance.

So when life happens to you, just do Philippians 4 verse 6 and 7 just like I did. It will work every time it is tried.

Father, I am not anxious about anything. I make my request known unto you with thanksgiving. Thank you for the peace that passes all understanding now keeping my heart and my mind through your son, Christ Jesus.

NO WORRIES
(Adapted from 1 Corinthians 13:5; Philippians 4:6)
Verse:
I was heavy-laden with a load of care,
Then I remembered Philippians 4 and 6
I left my cares there, I left my cares there
Chorus:
No Worries, God is in control
No Worries, I’ll make my request known
And the peace that passes all understanding
Will keep our hearts and our minds through Christ Jesus
And the peace that passes all understanding
Will keep our hearts and our minds through Christ Jesus
Bridge:
I chose to be thankful and not to complain
I believe in God
I trust in his name, I trust in his name, I trust in his name,
It’s the name above all names

SPEAK TO YOUR SOUL / Rather, I Will Say

This is the 6th of 7 devotions with the theme
From 1 Corinthians 13:5
"Love Is Not Fretful, Anxious or Worrisome"

SPEAK TO YOUR SOUL
by
Rebecca Cooley

(Adapted from John 12:27-28)

Do you think Jesus was ever troubled and distressed? He was. How did He handle it? He spoke to His soul and made it align with truth.

Speaking of His death, Jesus said, My soul is troubled and distressed. But what shall I say? Should I say, Father, save Me from this hour of trial and agony? But it was for this very purpose that I have come to this hour that I might undergo it. Rather, I will say, ‘Father, glorify, honor and extol Your own name!’

Jesus spoke to His soul and told Himself that the very purpose of His life on earth was to come to this hour of trial. As soon as He verified this truth and His soul lined up with His spirit, His Father spoke to Him,I have already glorified it, and I will glorify it again!’

Jesus was not about to let His soul dictate what His flesh would do. He spoke truth to His soul and caused His soul to align with it. When He did this, His Father spoke to Him! Our Father will do the same for us! He longs for us to speak to our souls and align ourselves with truth so that we may hear His voice.

Father, I speak to my soul this morning. I place myself in kingdom order and I accept the trial I am facing right now as a stepping stone to the next level of my life. I do not ask You to remove the trial. It is for this purpose that I must go to a new level in You. Thank you for insight and revelation. Thank you for victory over this trial and not deliverance. I am not the vine. I am the branch. I am not the teacher. I am the pupil. I am not the parent. I am the child. I am not the employer. I am the employee. I humble myself under correction. I overcome by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of my testimony. My testimony this morning is that I have spoken to my soul and brought it into submission to Your word. I truly expect to hear Your voice today.

RATHER I WILL SAY
Devotion: Speak to Your Soul
(Adapted from John 12:27-28)

Verse 1:
Now my soul is troubled and distressed,
What shall I say, Father save me from this hour?
But it was for this very purpose that I have come to this hour
That I may undergo it
Rather I will say,
Father glorify, honor and extol Lord, Your name
Then there came a voice out of heaven saying,
I have already glorified and I will glorify it again

Verse 2:
As we travel through trouble and distress
We’re not gonna stay, we’re just passing through
We give the Father praise with every word we say
We have fresh perspective, We won’t be dismayed

Chorus 1:
Rather I will say, Father glorify, honor and extol Lord Your name
Then there came a voice out of heaven,
I have already glorified and I will glorify it again and again and again and again
I will glorify it again

Chorus 2:
Rather we will say,
Father glorify, honor and extol Lord Your name
I can hear a voice out of heaven,
I have already glorified
And I will glorify it again and again and again and again
I will glorify it again
