BEARING UP / Rather I Will Say

This is the 6th of 7 devotions from
1 Corinthians 13:7

“Love Bears Up Under Everything And Anything That Comes”

(Adapted from Luke 22:31; John 12:27-28; 1 Corinthians 13:7)

At what point are you overwhelmed? What is your breaking point when your faith fails you? Jesus said to Peter,

Satan has desired you that he might sift you as wheat,
But I have prayed for you that your faith fail you not.

Do you think Jesus was ever troubled and distressed? He was. How did He handle it? He spoke to His soul and made it align with truth.

As the appointed time was drawing near for Him to be crucified, Jesus said, My soul is troubled and distressed. But what shall I say? Should I say, Father, save Me from this hour of trial and agony? But it was for this very purpose that I have come to this hour that I might undergo it. Rather, I will say, 'Father, glorify, honor and extol Your own name!'

Jesus spoke to His soul and told Himself that the very purpose of His life on earth was to come to this hour of trial. As soon as He verified this truth and His soul lined up with His spirit, His Father spoke to Him, 'I have already glorified it, and I will glorify it again!'

Jesus was not about to let His soul dictate what His flesh would do. He spoke truth to His soul and caused His soul to align with it. When He did this, His Father spoke to Him! Our Father will do the same for us! He longs for us to speak to our souls and align ourselves with truth so that we may hear His voice.

Jesus, You showed me how to do it! So I follow Your lead. I will not talk about the circumstances and situations. I will speak the word of God to every circumstance and situation that comes. In this way I will bare up under everything and anything that comes.

RATHER I WILL SAY
(Adapted from John 12:27-28; 1 Corinthians 13:7)
Verse 1:
Now my soul is troubled and distressed
What shall I say, Father save me from this hour?
But it was for this very purpose
That I have come to this hour that I may undergo it
Chorus 1:
Rather I will say,
Father glorify, honor and extol Lord Your name
Then there came a voice out of heaven,
I have already glorified
and I will glorify it again and again and again and again
I will glorify it again
Verse 2:
As we travel through trouble and distress
We're not gonna stay, we're just passing through
We give the Father praise with every word we say
We have fresh perspective, We won't be dismayed
Chorus 2:
Rather we will say
Father glorify, honor and extol Lord Your name
I can hear a voice out of heaven,
I have already glorified
And I will glorify it again and again and again and again
I will glorify it again

SELFLESSNESS = LOVE / Love Conquers All

This is the 1st of 7 devotions with the theme
From 1 Corinthians 13:5
"Love Is Not Self Seeking”

SELFLESSNESS = LOVE
Song: Love Conquers All
(Adapted from 1 Corinthians 13:5; 2 Corinthians 2:10)

It is important that we stay familiar with satan’s evil schemes and not allow him to outsmart us. It is equally important that we not allow him to get an advantage over us or get the upper hand. We must stay familiar with his evil schemes and not allow him to put us in a position to be led by his wiles and intentions. And it is imperative that we do this daily.

The secret to our success is love. You may notice that at the end of a challenging day, where it seemed the enemy was setting you up constantly, that his greatest tactic was selfishness. With each challenge, he will strive to get your mind off of others and off of the One who lives inside of you, and center your thinking on your own needs, desires, wants and ways.

“That was offensive to me!”
“Why did he do that?”
“Does she know she is making me late?”
“I have told you the answer to that question already!”
“I am tired!”

If the enemy can deceive us by putting our own selfish desires above everyone and everything, then he has caused us to step out of selflessness into selfishness and right into his territory. But if we are aware of the enemy of love, we can recognize his schemes and tactics and stop him in his tracks.

“No, devil! I refuse to take that thought!”
“No, devil, I refuse to give in to that negative reasoning!”
“I choose to put myself last!”
“I choose to walk in love!”

Father, you are the author of my love walk. You are the One who lives inside of me and teaches me and trains me for kingdom living. I yield my life and my love walk to you. I resist the enemy by refusing to give place to selfishness. The world does not revolve around me creating a place for selfishness. My world revolves around others creating a place for love.

LOVE CONQUERS ALL
Devotion: The Key to Divine Healing
(Adapted from Job)
Verse
Satan had some plans
But when Job prayed for his friends
God turn it around for Job
And he got the double for his trouble
And he got the double for his trouble
Satan has some plans
But when you pray for your friends
God will turn it around for you
And you’ll get the double for your trouble
And you’ll get the double for your trouble
Chorus
Love conquers all
So it’s time I get my mind off of myself
Love conquers all
So I’ll do something for somebody else
I will do something for somebody else
Bridge
I will pray for my friends
I will pray for my enemies
I will bless those who despitefully use
And Lord You will turn it around for me
Lord You will turn it around for me
